Kids in College 2013
The Mission of Kids in College is to expose children to the university environment through enrichment, exploration and creative thinking.

This year’s Kids in College program will take place over two weeks in the summer – one week for elementary students and one week for middle grades students. The elementary KIC camp is scheduled for June 17-21, 2013 and is open to students completing Kindergarten through Grade 4. The middle grades KIC camp is scheduled for July 29-August 2, 2013 and is open to students completing Grade 5 through Grade 8. This year’s camps will have a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Students will utilize 21st century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Kids in College is designed for teacher-recommended students who meet any of the following criteria:
Identified Academically Gifted
Achieved a Level 4 on the EOG
Maintained and A average on Math or Reading
Recommended by your current teacher
Experienced, AIG certified teachers will facilitate learning experiences throughout the week. Kids in College classes will be held in the Rhyne Building from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. Drop off and pick up will be at the front of the Rhyne Building. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. The cost is $325 for the week. A deposit of $50 is required for registration with the remaining balance due May 1st. There will be a parent information meeting on May 20th at 7:00 pm in the Belk Centrum on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University.
Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Forms are available at http://edu.lr.edu. Parents will be notified of acceptance as soon as the following requirements are satisfied:
- Completed application
- Teacher Recommendation Form submitted
- Release Form signed
- $50 non-refundable deposit (will be returned if space is unavailable)
