Bio:

Dr. Kim K. Matthews is an Assistant Professor of Education working primarily with the elementary majors here in Lenoir-Rhyne’s School of Education. He currently holds an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a masters degree and an education specialists degree from Appalachian State University, and an undergraduate degree in Intermediate Education with a concentration in science from Lenoir-Rhyne University. 

    His research interests include personnel evaluation in the schools as well as retention and support of Initially Licensed Teachers. He comes to us having completed 29 years of service in the public schools.  He worked as a middle school teacher, assistant principal, principal, and as an associate superintendent in the Yadkin County school system.  He also served as an elementary school principal in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system.  While attending Lenoir-Rhyne University, he met and married Karen Hodges who also graduated from L-R. They have two sons, and currently live in East Bend, North Carolina.
